Existing owners of apartments in Paris could face fines of up to €25,000 (GBP22,680) a day and a criminal record for ignoring long-standing, but rarely enforced, rules that demand they obtain government permission to let their holiday apartments to tourists. The Mayor of Paris, which authorises the required permits, now stipulates that Paris property owners must offset their commercial property with another that would serve as a solely residential property. However, the residential property must be twice the size in square feet as the commercial holiday let property, according to The Times. The law, designed to ensure housing in areas popular with affluent foreigners remains affordable, requires home owners to declare a "change of use" from residential to commercial holiday lettings. This requirement was, up until the introduction of the new rules late last year, widely ignored by home owners. However, authorities are now said to be enforcing the new rules and existing laws more rigorously. Some owners have since chosen to leave their properties empty, but many simply hope that the authorities will fail to enforce the new rules. TNo doubt the estimated 150,000 Britons who own holiday homes in France will also be watching the situation very closely. This story was brought to you by holidaylettings.co.uk. Well, now you can find out exactly how that feels at an attraction billed as a +quot;high-wire forest adventure+quot;. The concept originated in France back in 2001, when Tris and Becs Mayhew were on holiday in the Auvergne with their six-month old baby. They saw a French family swinging through the trees and were inspired by how much the whole party seemed to be enjoying the experience. The experience gave Tris and Becs the push they had been looking for to step off the corporate ladder and they founded Go Ape, which has become one of the fastest growing companies in the UK. Go Ape attractions have now been built in numerous forests around the UK and offer visitors the chance to complete an obstacle course in the trees. Using ladders, walkways, bridges and wooden tunnels, visitors navigate their way through the forest way above the ground. But the most thrilling part of the day out is provided by the zip lines - the longest of which is 426 metres. Visitors are kitted out in harnesses, pulleys and karabiners and given a 30-minute safety briefing before being let loose in the forest canopy to swing through the trees. Trained instructors are always on hand to assist and reassure guests with a bad bout of nerves. It is designed to be an exhilarating experience which takes people out of their comfort zones and gets the adrenaline pumping. Visitors must be aged over ten years, be at last 4ft 7ins tall and weigh no more than 130kg. The maximum waist measurement of the harnesses used is 110cm and the top leg hoop thickness it 70 cm. However, fitness is not a big requirement and as long as visitors can climb a rope they are in good enough shape to participate in a Go Ape day out. The courses take between two and three hours to complete. Visitors can bring cameras to remember their experience by, but are advised that they will not be provided with storage space for their belongings. Spectators are also invited to watch their friends swing through the trees, but will not be allowed onto the actual course. So, if you are looking for a different day out, either for a birthday, stag or hen do, or a corporate team-building event, Go Ape promises a fun, exhilarating and eye-opening experience for all involved. http://blog.uknetguide.co.uk/post/2010/02/17/Go-Ape.aspx Wed, 17 Feb 2010 15:12:00 +0000 http://blog.uknetguide.co.uk/post.aspx?id=9cfb7487-8042-443a-9adf-152b3a6e3b59 Your Space Home +amp; Property - Your Space: http://es.homesandproperty.co.uk/your_space/yourspace.html Tue, 30 Nov 1999 00:00:00 +0000 /http://es.homesandproperty.co.uk/your_space/yourspace.html Property News Home +amp; Property - Property News: http://www.homesandproperty.co.uk Tue, 30 Nov 1999 00:00:00 +0000 /http://www.homesandproperty.co.uk Net Lettings Net Lettings: http://www.net-lettings.co.uk/rss/news.xml Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 +0000 839EE4B5-268F-3864-C162-84CC60D9BA59
